Morton Tapestry Class

Morton Tapestry Class

Class Information:

Date/Time: Monday, 5/5 from 9am-5pm

Location: Classroom 2

Instructor:  Diann Reina, Stained Glass Crafters Workbench

Cost: $150

Max Students: 10

When teaching how to cut using the Morton Portable Glass Shop, I always felt sad to cut all the glass and not come away with a completed project. This project allows the students to cut all the same components yet each project is individually unique. The construction allows for structural integrity while appearing to have glass floating within.

You will be given a student packet that will include the picture and description I use to advertise this class, my pricing and class schedule along with an instructor’s sheet. IN ADDITION, I will give you the same information on how I teaching the Morton Cutting System. You will use 3 sheets of 12x12 glass.

Prerequisite: The Morton cutting system class, taught by the owner of Morton Glass Works,Jennifer Walkovich, where you will learn how to cut the shapes you need to do this class.                                                                 OR

If you already know how to use the Portable Glass Shop pre-cut, grind and foil your glass, as listed below, before coming to Glassfest.

Each student needs to cut the following using 3 pieces of glass:

  • 1 Strip, 1” wide from each piece of glass, length will vary depending on the glass
  • 2 strips, 1.5” wide from each piece of glass.
  • 1 strip, 2” wide from each piece of glass
  • From each 1.5” strip, cut into squares, cut about half of the squares in half using the 90-degree fast angle.
  • From each 1” strip cut a 45 angle off one end
  • From each 2” strip cut 1 diamond.  Cut 1 diamond in half with the 120-degree fast angle, cut 1 diamond with the 60 degree fast angle, leave 1 diamond whole.
  • Grind and foil all pieces of glass, the long strips don’t need to be foiled until day of class
  •
